We’re constantly improving KocaX Messenger. This page is our public log of every update we ship — with dates — so you always know what’s new. Answers to common questions are further down.
What’s new
- Push notifications — KocaX Messenger now alerts you to new messages even when the app is fully closed. Notifications stay private and never include message content.
- KocaX Messenger is now live on Google Play — Android users can install it directly from the Play Store: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.kocax.messenger. Same private, invite-only, end-to-end encrypted app — now on iPhone and Android.
- Encrypted photo sharing & vault — send photos that are stored only inside an encrypted in-app vault, never your phone’s gallery. In active development.
- Safer screen-lock PIN — the PIN protects the current device session without saving your password behind a four-digit code. After a full logout or storage clear, sign in again with your password and master key.
- Message reactions — react to any message with an emoji.
- Smoother typing & layout — fixed the screen jumping when the keyboard opens, on both the login and chat screens.
- Reliability fixes — the send button works right after you accept a chat, and starting a new chat opens the conversation immediately.
- Cleaner lock screen & sign-up — the PIN lock now fully hides your chats, and the sign-up controls look right on iPhone.

Frequently asked questions
How do I create an account?
Open the app, choose Register, pick a username and password, enter your invite code, and accept the Terms of Use. KocaX Messenger is invite-based to keep the network safe — ask an existing member for a code, or request one by emailing us.
How do I add a contact and start a chat?
Tap the gold + button, choose New chat, and enter your contact’s exact username. Usernames are exact (never guessed or listed publicly) to protect everyone’s privacy, so ask your contact for theirs. Tap Start chat and send your first encrypted message.
Are my messages really private?
Yes. Every message is end-to-end encrypted on your device (P-256 ECDH + a Signal-style double ratchet + AES-256-GCM) before it reaches our servers. We cannot read your messages and we do not have your encryption keys. We do not sell data, show ads, or track you.
How do disappearing messages work?
Open a chat, tap the timer (⏱) next to the message box, and choose how long messages should last — from view-once up to a week. You can also set a default timer for all new chats in Settings. Messages then delete themselves automatically after the chosen time.
What is the screen-lock PIN, and do I still need my password?
Set a PIN in Settings → Screen Lock to lock the app when you switch away. The PIN protects the current device session; it does not replace your account password or master key. After a full logout, reinstall, storage clear, or cold start that drops the session, sign in again with your username, password and master key.
How do I block or report someone?
Open the chat, tap the ⚙ menu, and choose Block or Report. Blocking removes the contact and stops all messages from them. Reports go to our safety team, which acts on violations within 24 hours. KocaX Messenger has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse.
I lost access — how do I recover my account?
Your account is protected by your password and a personal master key. Keep your master key safe: because your data is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot reset it for you. Use Log in with your username, password and master key on any device to restore access.
How do I delete my account and data?
Use the in-app profile options to delete your account directly, or visit https://kocax.nl/delete-account.html if you cannot access the app. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
